Picture and sound are both OK. My gripe is that you only get a full picture on HD channels and on channels that broadcast the old 4:3 aspect ratio. For channels that broadcast in wide format but non-HD you get a smaller picture surrounded by black bars. Purchased this TV at Costco for $349 and was thrilled with the quality of the picture and sound for the price.
